Most formal GCSE examinations are taken at the end of Year 11. However, there are changes to examination requirements every few years which we ensure that students are kept informed about and are well prepared for. All students who have completed the requirements for their course, and who have good attendance and punctuality records, are automatically entered for all of their examinations. For most students this will be at least nine GCSEs, ten if they are taking triple science. Students who are talented in mathematics, may take Further Mathematics GCSE. Bilingual students may take GCSEs in their heritage language. Some GCSEs have ‘tiered’ exams. Teachers recommend entry for the Foundation or Higher tier based on the work students complete during Year 11 and their practice exams. Recommendations are made, in consultation with students, with a view to them achieving the best possible grades for all their subjects.
We use a variety of examination boards including EDEXCEL, AQA, EDUQAS and OCR. We select the best syllabus for each subject based on the interests and aptitudes of our students.
