Contact school before 9.00am on the first and any subsequent day(s) of absence, preferably to the attendance email address. If relevant, acceptable medical evidence for the absence should be sent to attendance email address for it to be authorised.
When reporting an absence/lateness, we need to know your child’s name, tutor group and reason for absence/lateness. Please make it clear your relationship to the child whose absence is being reported as well as a contact number.

NHS - Is my child to ill for school?
Please refer to our ‘Policy for Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions’ if your child needs to take prescribed medication throughout the day. The school cannot administer any medication without the correct procedures being followed. All medication must be handed in to the Pastoral Support Office (P101).
The school may make a referral to the School Attendance Service for an Education Penalty Notice (EPN) to be issued. EPNs are issued to each parent of each child.
From August 2024, the fine for school absences across the country will be £80 if paid within 21 days, or £160 if paid within 28 days. If a second penalty fine is issued to the same parent for the same child within a 3-year rolling period, the fine will automatically rise to £160 with no option to pay the lower rate of £80. If a parent then commits a third offence in a 3-year rolling period, the local authority will need to consider other enforcement options available to them. If you’re prosecuted and attend court because your child hasn’t been attending school, you could get a fine of up to £2,500.
We believe it is very important that all our students benefit from 190 days of learning to ensure they make progress and achieve the results they should. If a school can improve its attendance by 1%, this can result in a 5-6% improvement in attainment.
We are asking you to support the school by ensuring your child achieves excellent attendance and punctuality. Headteachers will only allow term-time leave in exceptional circumstances; however, permission may not be given and the Headteacher’s decision is final. Any requests for such leave must be in writing and addressed to the Headteacher.
