At Queens Park Community School, we believe that learning an instrument is a rewarding journey that builds confidence, creativity, and lifelong skills. We offer a diverse range of instrumental lessons, including piano, voice, guitar, drum kit, orchestral strings, brass, and woodwind, taught by our team of expert musicians/tutors. Lessons take place during the school day and cater to all experience levels, from beginners to advanced musicians. Students have the opportunity to showcase their progress in school concerts, gaining valuable performance experience.
We are particularly encouraging applications for orchestral string instruments (violin and cello), as well as brass and woodwind, as these currently have no waiting lists—meaning your child is very likely to secure a place straight away! With subsidised fees and priority placement for GCSE and A level music students, we strive to make music education accessible to all. Funding is also available for PP students. More information on how lessons work and where to apply will be available in September.
Music Clubs are published in the Extra-Curricular Activities sheet and displayed on the music noticeboard.
QPCS Open Mic - Room P104, 3.00-4.00pm
Run by students, for students; this is like a mini concert that happens twice every half-term!
If you play an instrument, or sing, come over for a little jam session! No parents or carers, very relaxed and informal. This is a chance for you to get more involved in the music scene at QPCS and a place to showcase your talent. There is no structure to this afternoon - if you have a song you have been practising and just want to play/sing it, you can! This is also a great opportunity to collaborate with other musicians in the school. All year groups welcome! Date of next session will be published in the QP Newsletter and displayed on the music noticeboard.
Dates of Music Events are published in the school calendar.
