Homework is set regularly. The emphasis on homework is a significant factor in our students’ academic success and parents/carers are asked to involve themselves in this aspect of the school’s work.
Homework timetables are issued to students in Years 7 to 11 to help them organise and plan their work. A copy of this timetable can be found near the front of their Homework Diary. The purpose of the homework timetable is to make a suggestion about how workload can be organised.
Homework is recorded by students in their homework diary and by teachers in Google Classroom. Our Google Classroom site enables students to access support and submit work.
Students’ responsibilities:
- Record homework set and the deadline for completion in their diary
- Complete their homework to a high standard
- Seek help before the deadline if they are struggling
- Use their notes or online resources to review their learning when they have no other homework to complete
- Read regularly
- Attend homework club and detentions as required to catch up on any homework missed.
Parents’ & Carers' responsibilities:
- Supporting the student in the completion of homework;
- Signing the homework diary on a weekly basis
- Supporting the school in the implementation of the Homework Policy
- Encourage wider reading
- Support the student to manage their time and build independence
