Congratulations to all our Year 11 students, who have achieved some of our best ever results, with 25% of GCSE grades at G9-7 and 77% of GCSE grades at G9-4. Though there will not be official data on their progress as this year group did not sit SATs in Year 6, their indicative score of 0.3 (based on CATs scores) is above average.
Congratulations to A.C. who achieved eleven G9 grades! A.C. is going to study A Levels in maths, further maths, economics and philosophy in QPCS Sixth Form.
D.D.V. achieved 8 GCSEs at G9, one at G8 and one at G7 and is going on to study computer science, maths and further maths at A Level in QPCS Sixth Form. D.D.V. said, “During my time at QPCS I felt very well supported by my teachers, which allowed me to achieve grades that I am really happy with.”
C.W. is going to study A Levels at QPCS, having achieved excellent progress during their time at the school. C.W. said, “Believe in yourself like I was taught to. I am proud of how my art has developed at QPCS. I went to Ms Cummings every break time to improve my drawing and creativity. Now I will return to QPCS to study A level Photography.”
We had more G9 grades than ever before in mathematics, with one G9 student O.W. saying, “My maths teacher is a shining beacon.”
Twins S.H. and M.H. achieved 15 GCSEs at Grade 9, five at G8 and one at G7. They reflected, “We will never forget our time at QPCS. The experiences and our lovely teachers have shaped us as people for the better.”
Headteacher, Ms Enright said, “We were delighted to be able to celebrate today with this year group who faced the challenge of transitioning to secondary school in the middle of a global pandemic. Well done Year 11, you have shown great resilience and I wish you every success in the next exciting stage of education, employment or training.”
Queens Park Community School students hit all the right notes
At Queens Park Community School students celebrated the best ever year for A Level and BTEC results, with progress scores well above national averages. 98% of grades were at A* to E, with 23% at A*-A, 55% at A*-B and 82% at A*-C.
I.R. achieved A* A* A* A* in biology, chemistry, maths and music A Levels. I.R. is going to study natural sciences at Cambridge. I.R. said, “Queens Park Community School is a very supportive environment with amazing teachers who have a been incredibly helpful at every stage.”
It was another excellent year for humanities subjects too, with M.H. (A*A*A*A in maths, further maths, history and English) going to Oxford to read History and Economics, and E.W. (A*A*A* in English, history and maths) going to Leeds to read history.
A Level drama student A.C.C. arrived in the UK two years ago from Nicaragua, mastered the English language and curriculum, and secured a place at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
BTEC top performer D.W. achieved D*D*D* in BTEC Business and Finance. D.W. said, “It’s the end of an era! I’m really happy with my results.” This year’s class have made exceptional progress and look likely to top last year’s success for QPCS of being in the top 5% nationally. Our BTEC students are headed off to a great range of courses and destinations, including marketing at Liverpool, business with law at Queen Mary University and electronic engineering at York.
Twins P.G. and M.G. joined QPCS in the Sixth Form and achieved excellent progress, P.G. on the business and finance BTEC course and M.G. in A Level art, business studies and sociology. P.G. is going to read criminology at Bath and M.G. is going to read fashion marketing at Leeds.
Headteacher Ms Enright said, “Thanks to our ethos of academic excellence, QPCS students develop an exceptional range of knowledge, talents and skills. I am especially proud this year that against the national trend, we have increasing numbers of students choosing creative subjects at A Level: art, drama, music, photography and media, and progressing on to competitive specialised courses such as jazz at Guildhall, drama at Central and TV production at Falmouth.”
