QPCS Sixth Form Induction & Progression Day

Monday 22nd June, 2026

Our Induction Day offers September 2026 conditional offer holders a head start on their post-16 journey. You’ll experience subject taster sessions, meet the Sixth Form team, and hear directly from current students about life at QPCS. The day also covers our core expectations and provides your Summer Assignment tasks, ensuring a smooth and successful transition from GCSE to Advanced-Level study.
 

Important Information for Attendees

  • Attendance is expected for all students considering accepting their conditional offer to study at QPCS Sixth Form.
  • If you are unable to attend, please email sixthformleadershipteam@qpcs.brent.sch.uk in advance.
  • On arrival, please report to the school reception (Aylestone Avenue entrance) at 8:50am.
  • Breakfast will be available on arrival, and light refreshments will be provided during the morning break.
  • School uniform is not required for this day;  dress code is smart/casual.

Sixth Form Enrolment Day - Internal QPCS Students

Sixth Form Enrolment Day - Thursday 20th August, 2026

Internal QPCS Students: 9.00am – 12.00noon
Firstly, collect your GCSE results and then report to the Sixth Form Student Support Officer, Miss Kelly, who will allocate you to a member of the Sixth Form team for your Sixth Form enrolment interview. During the interview you will discuss your sixth form course choices and confirm that you meet the school’s entry criteria for your chosen subjects. Please see our Minimum Entry Criteria for all courses and Curriculum Guide/Summer Assignments.

If you are unable to attend the sixth form enrolment interview, please email Miss Kelly CKelly@qpcs.brent.sch.uk by 4.00pm Thursday 20th August, 2026 to confirm that you would still like the school to hold your place and the subjects you would like to study.

Sixth Form Enrolment Day - External Students

External Students with a Conditional Offer
Thursday 20th August, 2026 from 2.00pm – 4.00pm

Firstly, collect your GCSE results from your current school and bring your results slip to the QPCS Sixth Form enrolment interview. On arrival to QPCS, please report to the Sixth Form Student Support Officer, Miss Kelly, who will allocate you to a member of the Sixth Form team for your Sixth Form enrolment interview.

During your interview, you'll discuss your Sixth Form course choices and confirm that you meet the school's entry criteria for your chosen subjects. Please see our Minimum Entry Criteria for all courses and Curriculum Guide/Summer Assignments.

If you are unable to attend your Sixth Form enrolment interview, please email Miss Kelly at CKelly@qpcs.brent.sch.uk by 4:00 pm on Thursday 20th August, 2026 to confirm you would still like your place held and the subjects you would like to study.

 

External Students with NO Conditional Offer 
Friday 21st August, 2026 from 10.00am - 2.00pm

Please report to the visitor's reception with your GCSE results slip. A member of the Sixth Form team will then conduct your Sixth Form interview. During this interview, you will discuss your course choices and confirm whether or not you meet the school's entry criteria for your chosen subjects.

Please note that due to high demand, meeting entry criteria does not guarantee a place. Many of our courses are oversubscribed, and final availability is limited by the large number of offers issued this year.

Minimum Entry Requirements

A Levels Courses:

  • To study an A Level Science programme, you must have at least six GCSEs with grades of 6–9.

  • To study an A Level Arts/Humanities programme, you must have at least five GCSEs with grades of 5–9.


Vocational Courses: 

Our minimum entry requirement is five GCSE Grade 4 (inc. GCSE English Language or GCSE Maths)


Art & Design Grade 5 in Art and Grade 4 in English Language 

Biology Grade 7 in the Biology Combined Science papers or Grade 7 in Separate Science Biology and Grade 6 in Mathematics 

Business Grade 5 in Business Studies or Grade 5 in a Humanities subject, if you haven’t studied Business, and Grade 5 in English and Mathematics 

BTEC Business National Extended Diploma (Level 3) Grade 4 in English or Mathematics, plus four other grade 4s or above, including Grade 4 in Business or another Humanities subject, if you haven’t studied Business

Chemistry Grade 7 in the Chemistry Combined Science papers or Grade 7 in Separate Science Chemistry & Grade 6 in Mathematics 

Computer Science Grade 7 in Mathematics, and Grade 6 in Computer Science if studied. 

Criminology (Level 3 Diploma) Grade 5 in a Humanities subject and Grade 5 in English Language 

Drama & Theatre Grade 5 in Drama, or successful participation in productions or at KS3, and Grade 5 in English Language 

Economics Grade 6 in Mathematics and Grade 5 in English 

English Literature Grade 6 in English Literature and/or English Language 

Film Studies Grade 5 in Media and/or Grade 5 in English Language or Literature 

French Grade 6 in French and Grade 5 in English Language 

Geography Grade 6 in Geography, or another Humanities or Science subject, if you haven’t studied Geography 

History Grade 6 in History or another Humanities subject 

Mathematics Grade 7 in Mathematics

Further Mathematics Grade 8 in Mathematics 

Media Studies Grade 6 in Media or Grade 6 in English Language or Literature 

Music Grade 5 in Music and Grade 5 in performance and theory­­ 

Music Technology Level 2 Pass Music Technology or G5 or above in GCSE Music - or extensive experience. 

Philosophy Grade 6 in English Language and Grade 6 in a humanities subject 

Photography Grade 6 in English Language, Grade 5 in Maths and Grade 6 in a Science subject 

Physics Grade 7 in the Physics Combined Science papers or a Grade 7 in Separate Science Physics and Grade 7 in Mathematics

Politics Grade 6 in a Humanities subject and Grade 6 in English Language

Psychology Grade 6 in English Language, Grade 5 in Maths and Grade 6 in a Science subject 

Sociology Grade 5 in Sociology, or another humanities subject if you haven’t studied Sociology; and Grade 5 in English Language 

Spanish Grade 6 in Spanish, and Grade 5 in English Language 

Sixth Form Option Blocks 2026/27

When choosing your 3 or 4 A-Level subjects, please keep the following in mind:

  • No clashes: You must ensure your chosen subjects are in different blocks (e.g., you cannot choose two subjects that are both in Block A).

  • Multiple classes: Please note that some subjects have more than one class, meaning they are taught in more than one block to allow for greater flexibility with your combination of A levels.
