Welcome to the PTFA

Sian Griffiths
We are a group of parents, friends and teaching staff who all have the same goal of raising much needed funds for the school whilst having fun.
Each year we have different events but some favourites include: Quiz Night, which is a fiercely contested evening; and the Summer Carnival and competitive but Fun Run. As well as this we support the school in numerous other events in the school calendar.
Last year we held two Boden Trunk Sales at QPCS, they proved so successful we will be holding another one this year!
We have successfully campaigned for road safety measures around the school. We have a group of parents who have been bringing writers and other professionals into the school for curriculum enrichment, which has led to something called “First Story” being part of the school – an author in residence conducting workshops and an anthology of the students work.
The PTFA is a great way to become involved in school life and to build relationships throughout the community. We support all school events and have a presence in the surrounding area. We are supported by the Lexi Cinema and Winkworth Estate Agents.
Every student benefits from the funds raised. Last year we raised over £10,000!
In the last couple of years we have bought:
- a minibus for the school,
- invested in new lights and a sound system for the school hall,
- developed the “Quiet Space” in the playground – the brain child of an ex pupil of the school.
The money raised at the 2011/12 Summer Carnival and Fun Run is about to be spent on the upstairs area of the gym, which was ear marked for a new build but due to government cuts could not go ahead.
The PTFA also funded the Sixth Form Common Room face lift last year, which was driven by the then new year 13s.
Of course it’s not just money we need, it’s help at the events; skills; connections; fresh ways of raising funds. So if you can help please email ptfa@qpcs.brent.sch.uk
Please make an effort to visit this web site regularly; keep up with the PTFA news and think seriously about helping out . We are a friendly bunch and you would be made very welcome. The additional benefit of being a member of the PTFA is the genuine friendships that develop.
