Welcome to the PTFA
On behalf of the PTFA Committee, who are also trustees, we wish you a very warm welcome. As staff and parents or carers of pupils at QPCS, you are automatically members.
You are cordially invited to attend any PTFA meeting where you can make new friends, share ideas and help us raise much needed funds for the school, whilst having fun and socialising too!
Every student benefits from the funds raised and in the past year we raised over £11, 000.
Some favourites included the Quiz Night which raised £1,598 and was a fiercely contested evening! The hot, hot, hot Summer Carnival 2013, raised a whopping £3,957 and the competitive but Fun Run kept everyone fit! We participated in community events such as Queens Park Day, raising £260 whilst having a presence on the day as being firmly part of the Queens Park Community. As well as this, we supported the school during the school calendar and provided refreshments at sports evenings, concerts and school productions, during which we raised an additional £973 in the year!
The PTFA is a great way to become involved in school life and to build relationships throughout the community. We are supported by the Lexi Cinema, QPARA, Winkworth Estate Agents as well as the on-line shopping fund-raiser, the Giving Machine, which generated £585 in the last year. Another way you can help us raise money is by recycling unwanted jewellery. For more information about all our fundraisers click here.
The PTFA then put the funds raised into financially supporting pupils at QPCS in many ways, including:
- refurbishing a room, furnishing it with gym equipment, and mirrors to keep the pupils fit in support of the healthy living extracurricular activities
- sponsoring Year 11 on their prom night
- financing the outdoor shelter – this is an on-going project, dovetailing with the current improvement of buildings of the school
- support of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme QPCS
Of course it’s not just money we need, it is help at the events, skills, connections, fresh ideas and ways of raising funds. So if you can help, and we always do need a hand, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please make an effort to visit this web site regularly to keep up-to-date with the PTFA news, sign up through the ‘Contact us’ form to tell us in what way you can help. We are a friendly bunch and you would be made very welcome. The additional benefit of being a member of the PTFA is the genuine friendships that develop.
As a final note, I would personally like to thank the outgoing Chair, Sian Griffiths who has been an inspirational mentor to me in the past year, and an enthusiastic team builder of the committee. A special note of thanks must also go to the dedicated and voluntary work of the committee of the PTFA, and you the parents in supporting all our efforts to make the PTFA one of the most successful of secondary school PTFAs in the region.
