How to help your child make the best progress
There is a clear Code of Conduct in the school, as well as a contract or Home/School Agreement which parents, students and staff sign at the initial interview on entry to the school. We believe that a close working relationship with parents has a vital part to play in the educational progress of our students.
We build this by ensuring that our parents are kept in touch with what is going on and feel involved through:
Queens Park News our weekly newsletter
a copy of the studentís timetable and homework timetable
an excellent detailed parentsí handbook explaining the curriculum for each year of the school
a homework diary with space for parents to comment
student progress reviews 3 times per year
an annual parentsí evening
our website www.qpcs.brent.sch.uk
There is a PTFA (Parents, Teachers and friends of QPCS) which meets regularly to support the school and students and parents are, of course, very welcome to spend some of their spare time helping in the school.
attend meetings whenever they can,
support our public occasions such as plays and concerts,
read everything that the school sends them,
check their childís homework,
take an interest in the work that their child is doing,
make sure that their child attends regularly and on time,
ensures their child has the correct school equipment and school uniform
......will be helping their child to be happy and successful at school.
Regular opportunities will be provided for you to come into school to meet with form tutors and subject teachers to discuss the progress of your child. We have developed a student profile which involves parents as well as students and teachers in recording what has been achieved and identifying what needs to be tackled next. You will receive a termly report on your childís progress.
You certainly do not however, have to wait for an invitation to come into school to see how your child is progressing; and if you want to see your childís record you can make an appointment to see the Year Co-ordinator. Please contact your childís SSWO to arrange an appointment for you.
