Mike Hulme - Headteacher
A Fantastic year for the Year 7 boys so far. Just before the half-term break the Football team played JFS in the Brent Cup Final. They had proved to be our sternest test in the group stages but we dominated the final putting four goals past them in the process. We have a large and very good squad to take forward into the 11-a-side game in Year 8.
Not content with dominating the winter season the Year 7 boys also became Brent Athletics Champions again with a strong squad across all of the athletic events, even winning the 4 x 100m relay. Special mention, though, of our win in the Year 7 1500m, Zak G-S. smashed the borough record with commendable time of 5.21. They have also won their first cricket match this week beating Ark Academy with two overs to spare. We enjoy, in general, much sporting success at QPCS but I have challenged the boys to complete the treble of Football, Athletics and Cricket Cups. Never been done before by any school in the borough!

I have mentioned before how proud we are in the sporting achievements of QPCS students and I am looking forward confidently to announcing the results of our involvement in the Brent Schools Athletics Competition held on Tuesday and yesterday at a rather damp Willesden Stadium. However, I do relish the successes of our senior athletic competitor Tayla (Year 13) who has now been selected to compete for Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Loughborough U20 International Grande Prix this weekend. This is another amazing achievement and we should all be very proud of Tayla’s athletic aptitude and talent and wishing her all our very best in the competition.

Netball season finishes on a high… (QP News 4/4/14)
Congratulations to both of the Year 7 Netball teams who competed in the Brent Annual Tournament last Thursday at Kingsbury. The competition had originally taken place back in January but due to terrible weather conditions there was no alternative but to cancel and rearrange. A few months later the girls were eager to compete which showed on the day. The A team finished in third place having drawn a tough game in the semi-final which they narrowly lost to St. Greggs. The B team competed extremely well during their round robin competition finishing in second place, narrowly missing out again to St. Greggs.
The fact that the school can field two teams in one year group is a testament to the attendance, effort and enthusiasm of the girls at training. We have had over 40 Year 7 girls attend training since the start of the year making it extremely competitive but enjoyable. There is a depth of talent within not only this year group but across the school which we encourage to be further developed by attending local sports clubs. Any girl’s interested or wanting further information about joining a Netball club in the borough should speak to Ms. Mulhern.
A Team: Bo-Lou, Taj, Shukri, Amelie, Ava, Rupa and Mia
B Team: Zoe, Imaani, Ines, Katherine, Rima, Ione, Shula and Kitty.

Brent Netball Champions!! (QP News 14/3/14)
Congratulations to both the Year 8 and 9 girls who have just been crowned Brent League winners. The girls have been working extremely hard since the start of the academic year with an extremely high attendance at training. What has been even more pleasing to see is the determination to work and develop cohesively a team. The Year 8 girls have added this title to the cup success they had earlier in the season having been undefeated throughout the tournament. The Year 9 team were bitterly disappointed to have narrowly lost out in the final of the tournament by a single goal but were not deterred and stormed to league victory.
The Year 7s have also done brilliantly, finishing 3rd overall in the borough. Considering how quickly they had to adapt as a team having only had a few weeks at the school, this is an excellent result and they will look to build upon this when they compete in the Brent Annual Tournament which takes place on the 20th March.
Year 9: Sabreen, Ashura, La Tasha, Estella, Annie, Zoe, Sabreen, Freya, Iman and Maddie.
Year 8: Kelise, Joshana, Dominique, Rhea, Lily, Maya, Tia, Davina, Nekeisha and Tameequa.

National School Championship County finals
On Wednesday 22nd February three teams from Queens Park competed in the National School Championship County finals. The level of play within the competition was exceptionally high. Both girls and boys senior team came 5th and 4th respectively in their competition. The junior team consisting of 4 year 9 girls Amiel Fabrigas, Simhika Pindoria, Natisha Williams and Maya Broadhurst Wilson, they gave an outstanding performance winning their pool matches comfortably, thus making it through to the final. They faced tough competition from North London Collegiate and fought hard however, they finished 2nd in the competition after an amazing performance. Well done to all!
On Wednesday 1st February, Queens Park’s Year 7 had their third clean sheet in a row. We had a sensational game and the final score showed it as we won 9 - 0! The defence was solid, which gave the midfielders the freedom to spread the ball across the pitch, creating opportunities for the strikers to score some goals. In the past four games, the boys have shown outstanding performances and have played to the best of their abilities!
Dominic Thompson - Captain
Students Represent EnglandOn the 28th - 29th of January 2012 Nathan Fullerton and Paige Fullerton represented England cadets (under 17s) in a volleyball tournament in the Sparkassen-Rondo Cup in Austria. The tournament consisted of teams such as Friedrichshafen, Tirol, VLW and Liceo Meda and Austria’s national team UVC Graz.
For the boys, they had a clean sweep through the preliminary rounds without losing a set (each game consisted of best out of 3 sets, each set has to be won by gaining 25 points or higher if there are two clear points). They also won the quarter and semi-finals without dropping a set, but in the finals we had a tough time facing Austria’s national team – UVC Graz and we lost the first set. In the second set we came back winning, in the final set however England cadets lost out on winning the gold meaning UVC Graz won the competition and England cadets received silver.
The girls’ team won 1 out of 3 games which was a big accomplishment because this was the first time playing in an international tournament as a team. It was a great experience as we got to travel around the country and got to experience how other international teams play and how we would improve against them next time so it was a great learning experience. Hopefully next time we can come back with a medal!
The pair are next due to play in the UK Schools competition in May!
Year 7 Football
The Year 7 team took one step closer to the semi finals of the Brent League with an emphatic victory over Newman Catholic College. The boys were made to work hard for their opportunities in the first 15 minutes but when the first goal went in the flood gates opened, ending in a 9 - 0 rout. The quality of football is ever improving with strong displays from back to front. Yemi, Sharmarke and Joseph were relentless in defence, enabling Dominic, Dean and Dylan to pull the strings in midfield. Kian continued his goal scoring run adding 4 more goals to his tally, while Isaac and Finbar also created havoc in and around Newman’s box. Next Match – Alperton 25th Jan (Brent League).
Mr Farlow – 20/1/12
